Babesiosis is a serious tick-borne disease. Pet hotel stays increase tick exposure risk.
What is Babesiosis?
- Caused by Babesia parasite (transmitted by ticks)
- Destroys red blood cells
- Can be fatal without treatment
- Very common in Turkey (Rhipicephalus tick is main vector)
High-Risk Seasons
- Spring (March-June): Highest risk
- Autumn (September-November): Second peak
- Less risk in July-August (hot, dry) and winter

Warning Signs After Hotel Stay
- Fever (sudden, high - 40C+)
- Loss of appetite
- Weakness, collapse
- Dark/red/orange urine (very serious - emergency)
- Pale gums
