Post-Surgery Timeline
First 24 Hours
- Recovery from anesthesia
- Should ONLY be at vet clinic or home
- NO pet hotel during this period
Days 2-7 (Early Recovery)
- Restricted movement essential
- E-collar (cone) must be worn
- Incision site monitoring required
- Pet hotel possible ONLY if:
- Hotel has direct vet access - Staff trained in post-op monitoring - Incision is clean and dry
Days 7-14 (Late Recovery)
- Suture removal (day 10-14)
- More normal activity returning
- Pet hotel generally acceptable
What to Tell the Hotel

- Activity restrictions in writing
- Emergency vet contact
- Pain medication schedule
Warning Signs to Monitor
- Red, swollen or open incision
- Discharge from incision
