Your Dog After Pet Hotel: Normal vs Abnormal Behaviors

Reunions are joyful - but what comes after matters too.

Normal Post-Hotel Behaviors

Physical

  • Drinking lots of water (normal, slightly dehydrated from excitement)
  • Soft stools for 1-3 days (diet + stress)
  • Sleeping more than usual (recovery)
  • Eating less first meal (re-adjustment)

Behavioral

  • Sniffing everything (catching up on news)
  • Clinginess (wants to reconnect)
  • Ignoring you initially (briefly sulking, normal)
  • Excited zoomies on arrival
  • Following you room to room

Normal Transition Period

  • 1-3 days: Readjustment
  • Most dogs fully normal within 48 hours
