Poodle Types & Hotel Needs

Toy Poodle (under 4kg)

  • Sensitive to cold (coat required below 10C)
  • Fragile (cannot be with large dogs
  • High energy despite small size
  • Recommended: Small dog section, heated facilities

Miniature Poodle (4-8kg)

  • More robust than Toy
  • Excellent apartment dog
  • Needs mental stimulation
  • Recommended: Small-medium group, puzzle feeders

Standard Poodle (over 20kg)

  • Athletic, needs significant exercise
  • Often underestimated size
  • Very intelligent, bores easily
  • Recommended: Active large dog group

Critical: Grooming Requirements

Poodles have continuously growing hair (not fur):

  • Must be brushed DAILY
  • Matting occurs in 2-3 days without brushing
  • Professional grooming every 4-6 weeks
  • Ask hotel: "Do you brush Poodles daily?"

Coat Care at Hotels

  • Demand daily brushing commitment in writing
  • Book grooming appointment for return day
  • Bring de-matting spray
  • Leave grooming instructions with photos
